From new alliances to national awareness campaigns — here is what Hope Iwacu Initiative and its partners have been working on.
Tripartite Alliance signed with Pax Press and Delight Rwanda
Hope Iwacu Initiative, Pax Press, and Delight Rwanda have officially signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding establishing a Tripartite Alliance dedicated to preventing human trafficking, protecting survivors, and promoting coordinated action across Rwanda.
Hope Iwacu Initiative will lead survivor support, community awareness, prevention, and advocacy. Pax Press will use its media network to increase public awareness and amplify survivor voices. Delight Rwanda will focus on youth engagement and school-based prevention. Together, the partners aim to build a coordinated, sustainable, survivor-centered movement against trafficking in Rwanda.
MoU with Women Link Worldwide: advancing gender equality and human rights
Hope Iwacu Initiative values its partnership with Women Link Worldwide, an international organization advancing the rights of women and girls through strategic litigation, advocacy, and social justice. In 2025, Women Link Worldwide supported the SAFE Spaces Gala in Rukomo Sector, Nyagatare District, celebrating the achievements of adolescents, teachers, parents, and community leaders in creating safe, inclusive spaces for young people.

Bringing hotels into the fight against trafficking
Under the patronage of the Ministry of Justice, Hope Iwacu Initiative implemented an awareness campaign engaging staff from Kigali Serena Hotel, Ubumwe Grande Hotel, and Radisson Blu Hotel — strengthening the hospitality sector’s role in recognizing and reporting trafficking and gender-based violence.
Strengthening reintegration with the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
Alongside Pax Press Rwanda and Delight Rwanda, Hope Iwacu Initiative is implementing initiatives with the Embassy of Luxembourg in Kigali that strengthen survivor reintegration, build frontline responder capacity, and improve public awareness of emerging trafficking trends — including deceptive overseas recruitment and cyber-enabled exploitation.
Key areas of collaboration include psychosocial support and economic reintegration for survivors, training for local leaders and youth focal persons, responsible-journalism training, and promoting safe migration and digital safety.
GIZ Rwanda’s Right-Based Programme: a national awareness campaign begins in Kirehe
With GIZ Rwanda’s Right-Based Programme (RBP), Hope Iwacu Initiative launched a National Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign in Kirehe District — one of Rwanda’s border areas facing heightened risk of trafficking and deceptive recruitment. The campaign brought together government institutions, local authorities, law enforcement, civil society, youth, and community members.
The campaign will continue across Rwanda, engaging hotels and tourism establishments to strengthen their role in identifying and reporting suspected trafficking cases.
