About Us

Who we are, and why this work matters.

Hope Iwacu Initiative is a registered non-governmental organization operating in Rwanda and the Central African Republic, dedicated to building safe, inclusive, and resilient communities.

Vision

Free and safe from exploitation.

We work toward a future where the most vulnerable communities are free and safe from exploitation of every kind.

Mission

Protect. Empower. Transform.

To protect vulnerable individuals, empower survivors, and create a society free from human trafficking — where sexual and reproductive health and rights are respected and upheld.

Core values

What guides how we work.

  • We respect, protect, and uphold the rights and dignity of every individual.

  • We conduct our work with honesty, transparency, accountability, and professionalism.

  • We serve with empathy, respect, and a commitment to restoring hope and transforming lives.

  • We promote equality, diversity, and meaningful participation — especially for women, children, youth, and persons with disabilities.

  • We equip individuals and communities with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to become self-reliant and resilient.

  • Sustainable change is achieved through collaboration with communities, government, civil society, and development partners.

  • We embrace creative, evidence-based, and community-driven solutions to emerging social challenges.

How we work

Prevention, protection, advocacy, and livelihoods — together.

Rather than treating trafficking, health rights, and youth empowerment as separate problems, we address them as connected parts of the same goal: communities strong enough that no one is forced to choose between safety and opportunity.

That means working directly in schools and villages, alongside government ministries and international partners, and through media that reaches far beyond our program sites.
